Students rewarded for hard work

THE THEME “Ascending to Heights Unknown” was more than applicable when some of the achievements of the Grantley Adams Memorial School were highlighted during Wednesday’s speech day.

And it proved to be an especially proud occasion for the pupils, who were joined by family, friends and well-wishers, at the Blackman’s, St Joseph school to celebrate their achievements in areas such as sport, academia, music, the arts (culinary, theatre, visual) and the cadet corps.

There was no dearth of praise for the youngsters and Senator Harcourt Husbands added to that by applauding the staff for assisting in preparing the children for success.

Emphasising the point that preparation is the foundation for achieving all goals, Husbands referred to Barbadian Grammy award winner and mega star Rihanna as well as nine-time Olympic gold medallist, “the world’s fastest man” Usain Bolt. (SDB Media)
