IN THE wake of the launch of this year’s Under-17 National Junior Football Tournament, defending champions St George South are fuming over what they are calling gross disrespect and a great disappointment.

One of the coaches, Corey “Beenie Man” Barrow, is contending that the youngsters who won last year’s competition have not received the trip to England, which was promised to them as the winning prize.

“I am [very angry] about this because they gave the children false hope. We were initially told that the winning team, along with the players and coaching staff, will go on a trip to England to play a team over there. I was not the official coach, but I coached them in a lot of the sessions, and I can tell you they played their heart and soul out,” he told the SATURDAY SUN.

Charging that the competition was unfair, he said there was “a certain team earmarked to win the tournament”. (RA)
