THERE’S BEEN A DIP in the number of packages coming into the island as the Bridgetown Port gears up for the brisk final two weeks of cargo clearance before Christmas.
Operations manager Ian Stewart told the DAILY NATION yesterday there was a drop-off in the number of imported packages that included the traditional barrels popular especially at this time of year.
He said that between January and November, there were 31 162 packages delivered compared to 31 390 for the same period last year. However, Stewart could not account for what was behind the decline, saying it would be impossible to pin it to a single reason.
“More will be pouring in around this two-week period before Christmas and continuing after, with the main origins being Miami, New York, Canada and the United Kingdom,” he stated. (MR)
