Blown away by jazz

JOLLY OLE NICHOLAS BRANCKER and his merry band of musicians made the season very bright for hundreds of people attending the 14th annual Christmas Jazz at Ilaro Court on Sunday night.

From the opening strains of O Come All Ye Faithful to the closing stanzas of the same Christmas hymn at the end during an encore performance, the audience lapped up all the offerings, even those who had earlier complained about the 40-minute delayed start.

Even before Brancker said they enjoyed playing together, it was hard to miss the vibe that existed among him and trumpeter Maurice Brown, saxophonist Keith Anderson and guitarist Allen Cato.

Anderson literally blew his way into the hearts and minds of those who had never heard him play, and his solo performances will not be easily forgotten. (GBM)
