Breezy win for Moseley

THAT’S ONE timely reminder from Russell Moseley.

The discarded Davis Cup veteran has served notice, blasting collegiate player Gavin Hutchinson in straight sets to announce his intentions of returning to the squad via his BTA Invitational tournament-opening win.

Playing under extremely windy conditions at the National Tennis Centre yesterday, the 31-year-old Moseley blew Hutchinson off Stadium court in a routine 6-2, 6-3 victory to cap a string of lopsided matches on the opening day.

It was the type of start Moseley needed after he struggled at last year’s tournament – which served as the de facto Davis Cup trials – and ultimately lost his spot on the team.  (JM)
