Flood warning in effect until tomorrow

A FLOOD WARNING has been issued for Barbados and it will remain in effect until noon tomorrow.

In a notice issued at 11 a.m. today, the Barbados Meteorological Services said rainfall accumulations of at least two to three inches are possible. Residents in flood prone areas should continue to exercise caution and remain on the alert.

Acting director of the BMS Sonia Nurse said a trough system anchored across the island chain has been generating cloudy to overcast skies, moderate to heavy showers, periods of rain, thunderstorms and occasional gusty winds across Barbados during the last few hours.

Some flash-flooding has already been reported and further deterioration in conditions is expected during the afternoon and into tonight.

This warning will be updated as necessary. This and other related information may be obtained by dialling 976-2376 or by visiting www. barbadosweather.org. (NB)
