MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS Senator Maxine McClean is hailing the just concluded 50th anniversary of Independence celebrations as “very successful”.
As chairman of the 50th anniversary Independence committee set up by Prime Minister Freundel Stuart, McClean told local consular representatives and diplomats on Tuesday that all Government-sponsored “iconic events” and other activities held under the banner of the 50th anniversary were “well patronised”.
She commended staff of the small secretariat headed by Permanent Secretary Gabriele Springer, for their management and execution of the programme of activities.
She also thanked the diplomats and honorary consuls for their support of events, citing their interest and participation as an example of the “highly valued” relationship Barbados enjoyed with the countries represented by the Consular Corps and the entire diplomatic community. (GC)
