12 injured in road accidents over the last two days

A NUMBER OF PEOPLE were injured in accidents over the last two days.

On Saturday, two people were injured in an accident along the Barrow section of the ABC Highway.

Thirty-six-year-old Kamal Smith of Hilton Road, Haynesville, St James was the lone occupant of one vehicle, while Douglas Jones, 78, of Warners Terrace, Christ Church, was the driver of the other. He was accompanied by Faith Campbell, 34, of Wanstead, St James.

Smith and Campbell were taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) by ambulance. He was treated for pain to the chest and both arms, while Campbell complained of  pain to her right shoulder and right arm.

Five people were also injured when two Route Taxis collided along Pilgrim Road in Christ Church.

On Friday, three people were injured in an accident involving a truck and a motorcycle at Princess Royal Ave, St  Michael around 12:20 p.m.

Truck driver Michael Bovell, 45, of Ellerton, St George, received cuts to his hand and opted to seek private medical attention.  

Riders McKarie Humphrey, 22, of Harts Gap, Christ Church, and Shamar Wilson, 26, of Paddock Road, St Michael were both taken to the QEH by ambulance.

Humphrey received injuries to his head, face and feet, while Wilson received injuries to his left hand and face.

Earlier that day, two people were injured in an accident at the junction of Rendezvous Hill Road and Fordes Road, St Michael.

Saudia Gasoor-Moses, 51, of Durant’s, Christ Church and 80-year-old passenger Margaret Smith of St David’s in the same parish both suffered chest pains in a collision with a car driven by Robert Stuart, 51, of Cottage Land, St George.

Smith was taken to the QEH by ambulance, while Gasoor-Moses sought private medical attention.
