TWO days of testing and practice at the Daytona Speedway should sharpen Zane Maloney for the rigours of the Florida Winter Tour (FWT) at the Homestead Miami Speedway starting tomorrow.
By then the former Barbadian karting champion and World Karting Association’s Manufacturer’s Cup champion would have wrapped up three weekends of intense preparation and practice for the gruelling international which has attracted nearly 100 karters.
Father and crew chief Sean Maloney told NATIONSPORT that the youngster had been showing a level and natural grasp for the training process and he was quietly confident of a good showing.
“Tackling this kind of competition is not easy. It is nothing like what he is accustomed to in Barbados, so you have got to be ready as these youngsters are tough. They take nothing for granted and Zane has to be ready for that kind of competition that you can expect at the Florida Winter Tour,” dad said. (TT)
