IT IS NOT OFTEN that a street in busy Bridgetown will be closed during the Christmas season with the late rush by shoppers, but road users had to take an alternative route on Friday night and Christmas Eve with the closure of Ricketts Street.
Hundreds of domino players converged to the east of the Parliament Buildings to participate in the second annual Christmas Dominoes In The City Festival.
With the domino slammers winning hundreds of dollars for their efforts as well as benefiting from nightly prizes in raffles, the festival, now in its second year, has been a hit with locals as well as some visitors.
The four-day event slammed off on Friday night with the Three-Hand Knockout Team Tournament and continued on Saturday with action in the Three-Hand individual competition, before taking a break on Christmas Day.
It resumed yesterday with the positional play-offs as well as the finals in the Three-hand Knockout Team and Individual tournaments, where the winners will pocket $2 000 and $1 000, respectively.

The festival climaxes today with the 4-Hand Pull-a-rama, followed by the popular 13-Hand Tonk competition with the champions taking home $1 000 and $500, respectively.
Over 50 teams participated in the 3-Hand Team competition while more than 200 domino slammers contested the Individual competition.
A grand prize of a 50-inch flat screen television will be drawn tonight. (EZS)
