New Year’s babies come early

SHARAYA CLARKE could not wait the additional seven days until her January 8 due date.

Instead, she made her grand entry into the world at 3:04 a.m. on New Year’s Day at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, becoming the first baby born in Barbados for 2017.

Mum Shakira Clarke said she was very delighted at the birth of her third child.

The first bouncing baby boy was born to Kathrinia Connell hours later. She is yet to decide on his name. He too came a bit early, having been due January 9.

Both mothers were delighted to have their little bundles of joy to help them ring in the new year. (LK)
