THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY Independence celebrations took a bite out of Christmas shopping.
This was the word from president of the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Eddie Abed, who said while the official figures were not yet in, reports from those in the business sector were that the receipts from 2016 were down on 2015.
“We don’t have a final picture yet but what I am hearing is it is down. Christmas 2016 was down on 2015. I am not sure what the percentages are since we don’t have that information yet,” said Abed.
He told the WEEKEND NATION the feedback was that figures were down across the board. (HLE)
