Water meters causing residents headaches

THE INSTALLATION OF new meters has resulted in “gushing” water bills for some shocked Barbadians.

Back in 2015, the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) began installing new ultrasonic water metres, mainly in sections of St James and St Michael, which it promised were high-tech and would better serve residents.

However, that hasn’t been the case for Lola Millington.

Millington, who resides in Grazettes, St Michael, was greeted with a water bill of over $400, two weeks after she received her new meter. One month later, her water bill had escalated to $1100. (RB)
