THE MUSIC of the Caribbean echoed around the grounds of Ilaro Court for the third night of the Naniki Music Festival. Homegrown talent shared the stage with regional acts from Jamaica and Antigua but it was all One Love.
Third World was the headliner and brought the crowd to their feet in front the stage, but if marks were being given on who had the better performance on the night it would have to go to Antiguan band Asher Otto & Itchyfeet.
The musicality of Otto, who celebrated her birthday in Barbados on Friday night, wowed the crowd. And her Lauryn Hill-esque style didn’t hurt either. Doing originals and covers, her raspy voice modulated between husky and sexy and she wasn’t bad to look at either.
With loud applause from the audience time and again, the band spent an hour onstage as Otto gave a taste of Rihanna, Hozier, and more. (NS)
