SOME BARBADIANS are urging the authorities to explore long-term solutions for the “pothole crisis”.
They described the emergency pothole patching programme that was launched on Monday to the tune of $1 million as a “quick fix”.
When the SUNDAY SUN visited several sites in St Michael recently, some people said they were not satisfied with how roads were maintained.
The first stop was Station Hill, where heavy machinery – a skid steer, a two-and-a-half-ton roller and truck – was being used to fix the high-traffic road.
A resident, who did not give her name, said driving over potholes was painful because of a back injury. The 46-year-old said she avoided leaving home as a result. (LT)
