VETERAN ENTERTAINER and prolific songwriter Stetson RPB Wiltshire has been held up as a beacon of the cultural industry.
Known for his command of the stage, RPB was put under a different spotlight on Saturday when he was honoured during the Barbados Independent Film Festival, a day before the curtains were brought down on the inaugural event.
“This festival is also about honouring the cultural industries in Barbados, the cultural industries in the Caribbean. We did one honour earlier, let us now honour Red Plastic Bag,” declared festival co-director Sir Trevor Carmichael, as he touted the entertainer’s many accomplishments.
“His recognition is not restricted to Barbados. It’s also worldwide. He has had honours in Barbados but he has also had international recognition awards in the United States cities of Boston and Washington,” Sir Trevor told attendees, who included diplomats and members of the film industry.
