OLYMPIC bronze medallist Obadele Thompson has a radical proposal that he wants Government to adopt.
Delivering the feature address on the topic Sports: Positioning For Global Success at the National Sports Council’s awards ceremony on Saturday night at the Frank Collymore Hall, Thompson urged Government to be the watchdog of national sporting associations.
He said in cases of limited resources, and especially for smaller countries like Barbados, the Government needed to be actively involved in how limited resources were distributed and used.
“I think that the Government needs to play an integral role in monitoring national federations. I think that there needs to be a centralised organisation or branch of an existing organisation, to which all national federations report,” Thompson said. (EZS)
