GOVERNMENT may be cash-strapped but the state-run National Sports Council (NSC) still disbursed more than $2 million last year to assist athletes and national associations.

Minister of Sport Stephen Lashley made this revelation in his welcome address at the NSC’s annual awards ceremony at Frank Collymore Hall on Saturday night.

Lashley said the funds were given directly to athletes and through their associations.
