QEH waiting times to fall

CHANGES ARE COMING to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), and chief executive officer Dr Dexter James says Barbadians will not have to wait for them.

Speaking yesterday during a press conference at the Martindales Road, St Michael institution to launch a cataract initiative, he said this year the QEH was on course to reducing the delays in accessing certain services. dexterjamesdrcopy

“One of our value propositions in our work programme for 2017/2018 is to really impact the service quality experienced in a number of areas. We want to look at areas such as [our] waiting list, both in terms of surgery as well as patients waiting for diagnostic investigations.

“The whole question of improving our appointment systems, the wait time in the Accident Emergency Department, expanding visitations privileges to the members of the public to selective wards, the vexing issue at times of outstanding medical reports. So that set of propositions are what we hope to implement in 2017/2018, all with an attempt to improve the experience of outpatients,” James said. (SDB Media)
