Chargers closing in on top spot

LEAGUE KINGS Chargers moved one set away from cementing the top qualifying spot in the Goddard Enterprises Limited senior volleyball knockouts when the action continued on Tuesday night at Oldbury.

Chargers defeated the defending champions, Barbados Bearings W. Gittens Progressive 25-17, 25-20, 19-25, 25-11.

Without veteran Fabian Cox, Progressive played an inconsistent game although specialist Akeem Payne showed his worth as a leader in attack and defence.

However, Rico Brathwaite looked ordinary while his teammates did Chargers several favours by throwing away the serve regularly.  (KB)
