ATTORNEY GENERAL and Minister of Home Affairs Adriel Brathwaite expects the appointment of a Commissioner of Police (COP) and Deputy Commissioner will soon be forthcoming.
Brathwaite, while making it clear he was not the one responsible for the upward movement of senior cops, suggested that appointments to the Police Force’s two most important positions would be dealt with as a matter of priority.
Tyrone Griffith is the acting Commissioner of Police, and Oral Williams, acting Deputy Commissioner.
“The Police Service Commission (PSC) makes such appointments. But there was no vacancy for Commissioner of Police because (former Commissioner Darwin Dottin) had a case in court, and only retired last year, but now, that position can be filled,” Brathwaite said. (BA)
