Visitor on drug charges

A CANADIAN VISITOR will appear in court tomorrow to answer charges related to four pounds of Cannabis valued in excess of $30 000.

Members of the Drug Squad charged 22-year-old Gurkirat Singh Sraa with possession, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and importation of cannabis.

After arriving from Canada and clearing immigration at the Grantley Adams International Airport on Friday, Sraa proceeded to customs where his luggage was searched by customs officers.

The search revealed 16 transparent vacuum sealed packages, each reportedly containing cannabis, in a false bottom of his suitcase. The police were informed and he was subsequently arrested.

Sraa is expected to appear before the District ‘B’ Magistrate Court on Monday.

The street value is $32 000. (PR/SAT)
