Guardian football tourney kicks off

DEFENDING CHAMPIONS of the Guardian Group Youth Football Competition, Pro Shottas United and Barbados Soccer Academy, will face their opponents when the tournament kicks off at the BET Sporting Complex on Saturday.

The tournament, which runs for 15 weeks, will see approximately 100 teams, an increase from last year’s 90, parading at the opening of the tournament, which will open and close at the Wildey sporting facility for the first time.

Branch manager of Guardian Group Amado Marcano noted that with the start of this year’s tournament there would be the introduction of a player of the week component to be featured on the Barbados Football Association’s (BFA) website along with the Guardian Group Barbados Facebook page. (RA)
