Postal worker on drug charges

MEMBERS OF THE DRUG SQUAD have arrested and charged a temporary postal officer with the Barbados Postal Service with a number of drug related offences.

Corey Abeff Marshall, 27 years, of Grazettes, St Michael has been charged with trafficking and importation of cannabis weighing 491 grammes and a street value of $2 455.

These offences allegedly occurred between January 17 and 24 at the General Post Office, Cheapside, St Michael.

According to police, Marshall made arrangements to clear a package at the Post Office. A check of the package by Customs Enforcement Officers revealed it contained one transparent vacuum sealed package containing cannabis wrapped in a table cloth. The package and documents were handed over to the police who conducted investigations.

Marshall was subsequent brought into police custody on January 24 where he was interviewed and later charged.

When he appeared before Magistrate Cuffy-Sargeant in the District ‘A’ Magistrate court, Marshall was granted bail at the sum of $5 000 with one surety, to reappear on April 18. (PR/SAT)
