BARBADOS PRIDE beat Jamaica Scorpions in a tense finish under the lights at Kensington Oval last night but the victory lacked the sting it seemed likely to have.

The Bajans completed a third successive triumph to maintain their 100 per winning record in the WICB Regional Super50 Cricket Tournament but they were made to fight tooth and nail before overcoming the resilient Scorpions by one wicket.

With the visitors reeling at 97 for six late in the afternoon after choosing to bat first in the day/night contest, the match hardly appeared likely to go the distance but Barbados Pride ended up having to chase a target of 191 which they eventually achieved after some unease.

Reduced to 143 for eight and seemingly down and out, Barbados Pride were revived by the level heads of Ashley Nurse and Kemar Roach in ninth wicket partnership of 42 that kept those in the stands on the edge of their seats. (HG)
