THE BARBADOS BANKERS’ ASSOCIATION (BBA)and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Barbados (ICAB) are both saying “yes” to a Central Bank recommendation that Government reduce its wage bill.

Stating that inefficiencies needed to be cut, BBA president Donna Wellington said “there is absolutely no way” that Government could continue with its pace of spending.

She said some public sector workers should be retooled to take up private jobs, and the necessary measures put in place to facilitate the private sector.

Executive director of ICAB, Reginald Farley, compared the situation to an infected cut that a doctor needed to deal with. (WILLCOMM)
