THE MISS UNIVERSE pageant has brightened the spotlight on Barbados. That’s the word from director of media relations and PR of Miss Universe Barbados (MUB), Gaynelle Marshall.

During a Press conference held at the Bougainvillea Hotel in Maxwell, Christ Church, yesterday, she said the Google search for Barbados had increased by approximately 300 per cent during the island’s participation in the show.

“[This] means somebody might have just said, ‘Where is this country?’ [They have] seen our shores, our people. . . and all of a sudden we have direct. . . interest [in the country] that we absolutely could not pay for,” she said.

Marshall said Government should use this international exposure to boost the tourism sector. (LT)
