Muslims feel victimised

THE STAR-SPANGLED Banner has lost its shine for some members of the local Muslim community.

For some, its broad stripes and bright stars are now a symbol of fear, casting clouds of doubt over the globe within days of Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration.

The 45th president of the United States signed the executive order last month to bar refugees from entering the country for 120 days and immigrants from seven Muslim-majority countries for 90 days.

On Friday night Federal Judge James Robart, who presides in Washington, orally granted the temporary restraining order on the ban. 

When the SUNDAY SUN spoke with some Muslims in Kensington New Road, The City, recently, they empathised with nationals of the affected countries.
