FIELDING BABB has left “an indelible impression” on the visual arts of Barbados.

Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, Stephen Lashley, paid this tribute today to the renowned Barbadian artist, who passed away over the weekend.

Describing Babb’s contribution to the cultural development of Barbados as “phenomenal” and “outstanding”, Lashley said he used his artistic talent to preserve the landscapes of Barbados and to “tell the very rich history of our country”.

The Culture Minister added that the late painter motivated many young artists, and was a very vibrant and humble member of his community who “had a vision of reaching out to young people” and was always ready to offer advice.

“I believe that Fielding will not only be missed in Barbados but his work would have extended across the Caribbean,” he stated.

Lashley extended his deepest sympathy, on behalf of his Ministry and the Government of Barbados, to the family of the late Barbadian artist. (BGIS)
