A LARGE crowd was treated to nine entertaining matches on the opening night of the fifth edition of the popular Silver Hill Road Tennis Championship on Sunday night.

Among the spectators was the Minister of Sports and Member of Parliament for the area Stephen Lashley, who witnessed the players doing justice to an impressive brand new court at Silver Hill with shots out of the top drawer.

It was unbelievable that the combatants in the first set of matches were battling to advance to the round of 64 in the oversubscribed tournament.

Trevor “TC” Callender made his debut in the big league  by showing his new wife in the audience why he spends so much time in Bush Hall as he outplayed Richard Hope 21-17, 23-21 in a very tight game. (KB)
