Mixed outcomes for burglary accused

TWO OF THE three men charged with 30 burglaries in the District “B” and “C” areas have been sent to HMP Dodds.

Damian Allan McCarthy, 28, who was charged with 20 counts of burglary, was sentenced to four years in prison for three offences committed in the District “C” Station area.

The Rock Hall, St Philip resident is expected to reappear in the District “C” Magistrates’ Court on March 20 to answer an additional seven burglary charges.

McCarthy is also scheduled to appear in the District “B” Magistrates’ Court on February 23 to answer ten burglary charges in that jurisdiction.

Meanwhile, 22-year-old Stefon Anthony Toney, also of Rock Hall, was remanded to prison on nine burglary charges. He will reappear at District “C” on March 20.

Jeshawnti Donnay Alleyne, 17, of River Land, St Philip who faced one burglary charge, was granted bail.

He is expected to reappear in the District “C” Court on June 19. (PR/NB)
