Brand-name hotels coming

BARBADOS IS SET to flag major international hotel brands.

Within the next two years, there is expected to be a Wyndham, Hyatt and another two Sandals properties, all of which Minister of Tourism Richard Sealy said yesterday would enhance the island’s reputation as a tourism destination.

About 14 per cent of the room stock was branded and Sealy said “we need brands that we can engage in a symbiosis with”.

Giving a media update on the various projects, he said Sandals resort was adding 222 rooms adjacent to its St Lawrence Gap hotel and this would be branded as Sandals Royal. The deadline for completion was November 30. (GC)
