BARBADOS’ name is being dragged through the mud in relation to some international travel agencies’ dealings concerning a four-star South Coast hotel under construction.
The story can be found across multiple foreign publications and even on social video sharing site YouTube. British couple Paul and Marian Walker said they had paid £5 000 (around BDS$12 500) for a two-week stay at The Sands Condominiums, Worthing, Christ Church only to find a building site.
Colin Jordan, a representative of the management company which will be running The Sands once complete, told the WEEKEND NATION they had made it known well in advance that the hotel’s original completion date last year was no longer viable.
“That experience is an unfortunate one but the fact is the tour operators were informed way in advance of the rescheduled completion date and would have had time to make proper alternative arrangements,” he said. (CA)
