TRAFFIC IN BRIDGETOWN came to a crawl this morning as scores of locals and visitors watched what appeared to be a law enforcement operation aboard a vessel in the inner basin of the Careenage.

With a Coast Guard vessel in close proximity, members of the police Marine Unit and Coast Guard officers boarded the yacht which was berthed in the inner basin and engaged one of the occupants.

The scene attracted many onlookers as Port Authority officials had also lifted the historic 1872 Chamberlain Bridge to provide access to the area.

When contacted,  police public relations officer Acting Inspector Roland Cobbler said the operation was part of routine checks undertaken by law enforcement. (GE)
