MITCHELLE MARKSMAN got an unexpected early birthday gift delivered to her door last Monday.

Her daughter was released from the Government Industrial School (GIS), seven months after Marksman publicly complained about how the then 15-year-old was being treated at the institution.

She told the SUNDAY SUN she was surprised but happy when Brittany, now 16, walked through the door to her St Michael home. It was a celebration for mother and daughter since Marksman’s birthday was the next day.

It was last August that the concerned mother came to Nation House to complain that officials at the GIS had not told her why they had taken her daughter to the Psychiatric Hospital. (MB)
