Marshall sees no DLP transparency

FORMER ATTORNEY GENERAL Dale Marshall believes the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) presented a picture of transparency and good governance on its way to an election win, but is not practising what it preached.

The MP for St Joseph made the comments in the House of Assembly yesterday during debate on a resolution to provide the Bridgetown Port with $50 million to finance the Berth 5 Project that is set to increase the facility’s home porting capacity.

Marshall said while the administration was boasting the new berthing area could assist in improving Barbados’ tourism product, it was deflecting from the issue of transparency, which needed to be addressed as soon as possible.

“I would like to remind the minister [Richard Sealy] that when they came to Government in 2008, they put out a manifesto and one of the centrepieces was governance,” Marshall said. (BA)
