SINGAPORE, a country not known for a strong cricket culture, has put forward a bid to host the finals of the 2017 Caribbean Premier League (CPL).

The Asian country, however, will only be a last choice if any of the Caribbean islands fail to reach a deal with organisers of the glitzy Twenty20 league which is entering its fifth year. hero-cpl

In an interview from London yesterday, CPL chief executive officer Damien O’Donohoe revealed that they had started discussions with some Caribbean governments but they could also consider the offer from outside the region.

“We have an approach from the government of Singapore to look at possibly hosting the finals there. It will be a huge step and one that I would only want to look at as a last resort,” O’Donohoe told the WEEKEND NATION. (HG)
