THE DEATH KNELL may be sounding for two major winter tourism events that have attracted scores of visitors to Barbados.

The SATURDAY SUN has learnt that the Canadian radio promotion Chum FM Breakfast in Barbados and the Holders Season, held between March and April, are off this year’s cultural calendar and it is unsure when or if either will return.

The Chum FM Breakfast in Barbados show has been broadcast from Barbados for the last 30 years with winners in the promotion enjoying a week on the island along with several of their guests.

The radio station’s daily prime time broadcasts are relayed from Barbados to millions of listeners in some of Canada’s cities including Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary and Ottawa.

The highlight is a concert which has over the years seen international artistes such as Jennifer Hudson and Michael Bublé performing in Barbados. (GC)
