That’s what outspoken Government minister Dr David Estwick wants former Prime Minister Owen Arthur and economist Dr Clyde Mascoll to do.
Estwick accused Arthur and Mascoll of being selective in addressing his proposals to restructure Barbados’ debt and rescue the ailing economy, and chastised them for not explaining the benefits for the average Barbadian.
His comments come more than a week after he stated in another section of the media that Government’s fiscal consolidation programme led by Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler had failed. Then, he again suggested his proposal of a US$5 billion sinking fund that could have been negotiated with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to eliminate Barbados’ entire national debt as the way to go because it would have reduced the island’s debt service from $1.7 billion annually – as projected for the 2016/2017 financial year – down to $700 million annually.
