Vendors meeting with Inniss

AROUND 15 SMALL BUSINESSMEN are currently in talks with Small Business Minister Donville Inniss and Comptroller of Customs Annette Weekes at the Grantley Adams International Airport.

The vendors, mostly clothing retailers from The City, have been going to the Airport since last Thursday in an effort to get their goods cleared.

They said they were told they now needed more documentation to do so, but the vendors say this was impossible to get given the short notice.

In an article carried in the Saturday Sun, vendors said the Customs and Excise Department was now demanding a cash register bill and they had not been given prior notice.

THE NATION had contacted Inniss about the matter and he had said he was going to look into it. He arrived around 2 p.m. today and ushered the group into the closed door meeting. (CA)
