‘Missing out’ on night racing

THE Barbados Turf Club (BTC) continues to pin its hopes for the future viability of horse racing on night racing at the Garrison Savannah.

But there is concern that the red tape involved in the process of putting up the lights is further delaying the lighting plan that has been on the table for the last nine years.

BTC president Sir David Seale said the club had so far spent about $250 000 preparing documentation on the proposed lighting for Government’s submission to the UNESCO World Heritage authorities, since the Garrison lies within the UNESCO World Heritage site Bridgetown And Its Historic Garrison.

Sir David told MIDWEEK SPORT horse racing was currently on a downward trajectory. (GC)
