MEMBERS OF THE Barbados Workers Union (BWU) took to the streets of Bridgetown today to march for International Women’s Day.

Despite intermittent showers, the women and men walked with placards in hand from BWU headquarters at Solidarity House to the meeting point at Queen’s Park.

Labour College Principal Doreen Deane gave a rousing speech before moving off through Bridgetown, back to Solidarity House.

Deane explained the march was being done to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political advancements of women.

She also called for action towards accelerated gender parity. (AD)
