LOOK TO THE island’s history to solve the current economic issues.
This is the advice of noted historian Dr Henderson Carter who, at the same time, lamented the fact that history, as an entity, was no longer taught in secondary schools.
The new chair of the museum’s Publications and Public Programming Committee was speaking as the museum rolled out its 2017 Lecture Series at a press conference at the museum’s headquarters yesterday.
Noting that the theme of education will be running through the five lectures and two panel discussions, the first of which starts next Tuesday at the Steel Shed, Dr Carter said history provided an understanding of the different ways to solve a problem. (HLE)
