TWO DAYS after International Women’s Day, a St George mother of four has lost her dignity after a bailiff and carpenters arrived around 9 a.m. and dismantled two wooden structures that she called home.
Clavil Gibbons, a 66-year-old grandmother of two, and her family, who were living on a plot of land at Workmans for 20 years, were evicted yesterday. Saddened by the development, Gibbons said she did not know why it was happening to her.
“I was living here for over 20 years and I am upset and frustrated. But this is life, instead of extending a helping hand people just want to pull you down,” the mother told the WEEKEND NATION.
She also said she hardly saw or spoke to the landlady, from whom she rented the plot after she and her husband built their wooden home in 1990. (SB)
