THE ST Leonard’s Boys School is making strides in the local film industry.

Recently the school screened its first full-feature film at the Barbados Public Worker’s Cooperative Credit Union, Belmont Road, St Michael, and the cast members, who are past students, were praised for their commendable effort and dedication.

The film entitled After The Loss The Struggle Of D was inspired by true events of teenagers who sought counselling after the death of a family member, drug influences and peer pressure.

Reading specialist and Drama Club co-ordinator Dr Glovina Springer conceived the idea to create a motion picture of these events, noting the movie was done without a script.

Assistant director of the movie, Anthony Carter, also commended the cast members on a job well done. He said he was amazed the guys “pulled it off” with limited resources.

In addition, the president of the Barbados Film and Video Association Damien Pinder said he was very impressed by the acting skills of the star of the movie, Ammunikée Gomez. (SB)
