SANDY LANE GOLD CUP day has become one of the most fashionable events on the annual social calendar, and male and female patrons at the 36th running of the Gold Cup lived up to expectations.
Men were dapper and women donned fetching hats in keeping with the style of the famous Ascot race day.
Gold Cup day is one race day when the Barbados Turf Club (BTC) sees many familiar faces from previous years. Friends of the sport who share a passion for horse racing meet and mingle, cocktails flow and the air is filled with light chatter.
While members of the BTC entertain their guests in the club’s large air-conditioned lounge, individual racehorse owners extend hospitality to their guests in their private lounges where friends, business associates, prominent names on the social register and a few political figures are seen letting their hair down on the big race day.
