THE WORK ETHIC of teacher Richard Jordan has earned him an additional $2 000.
At The St Michael School yesterday, the economics teacher was selected as one of the ten recipients of the Royal Fidelity National Distinguished Teachers Award (NDTA).
This year, Jordan was selected from a class of about 400 educators who were nominated by their peers, students and parents.
Speaking to the media yesterday, Jordan, who has been teaching for six years, said he was honoured by the award and thanked his principal and colleagues for their support.
“I see my job as one of the most satisfying jobs. There are so many outstanding dedicated teachers out there who strive to challenge and inspire their students every day.
“Society has ups and downs, but we have that foundation we can set for our students. I know teachers play a big role and I would just like to say continue what they are doing and to continue to instil positive behaviours in our students,” Jordan said.

The cheque was delivered by trust officer at Royal Fidelity, Gail Walters, who thanked Jordan for his contribution.
“Mr Jordan, we are grateful as you are one of those outstanding teachers who provoked curiosity, stirred minds and who showed your students how to satisfy their thirst for knowledge and understanding. Thank you for your immeasurable contributions to our society,”she said.
According to the company, the annual programme, which began in 2010, was to recognise and reward the teaching professionals since they received limited recognition, financially or otherwise. (TG)
