THE APPROPRIATION BILL 2017 was passed in the House of Assembly tonight.

Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler wrapped up debate on the Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure for the 2017/18 financial year after both sides of the House engaged in debate.

The vote was 15-12 in favour after division was called by Speaker Michael Carrington.

Former Prime Minister Owen Arthur was not present, while Dr Maria Agard is on leave for illness.

In closing, Sinckler repeated calls for the Opposition to let the people of Barbados know what they propose to do for the country.

The sitting will resume at 2 p.m. Thursday when the Ministers will speak on the various ministries.

To date, there has been no contribution by Minister of Agriculture and Water Resource Management Dr David Estwick, a point which was made by Opposition MP for St Michael North Ronald Toppin. (SAT)
