BARBADOS PRIDE endured a frustrating pre-lunch session on the first day of their Digicel Regional 4-Day match against Windward Islands Volcanoes at Kensington Oval today.
After losing the toss Barbados Pride failed to take a wicket in the first two hours and the visitors reached a satisfying position of 116 without loss at the interval.
Both openers, Devon Smith and Tyrone Theophile batted solidly against a Barbados Pride attacking featuring just two fast bowlers.
The left-handed Smith was the more positive, progressing to an unbeaten 66 while Theophile lent useful support in an undefeated 42. To emphasise the dominance by the batsmen, they struck 19 fours off 32 overs.
Barbados Pride made two changes from the team that beat Leeward Islands Hurricanes in the last match.
West Indies players Shai Hope and Ashley Nurse have returned to the line-up in place of Jonathan Carter and Justin Greaves. (HG)
