AFTER SEVERAL PROMISES, monies owed to workers of the United Commercial Autoworks Ltd (UCAL) are still overdue.
Former chairman of the entity, Senator Sir Roy Trotman, yesterday repeated his call for the workers to be paid while speaking on the Appropriation Bill, 2017, in the Senate.
During his hour-long address, Sir Roy charged that “well over” $20 million was owed by the Transport Board and lamented that even after so much time had passed, UCAL employees were yet to see the money.
“In fact, theTransport Board hardly gives us any money on a monthly basis and we have to go cap in hand, when we can find him, to the Minister of Finance, and ask him kindly to prevent persons from going too many more days without any wage for the week . . . (SDB Media)
